Ngamawari has won the Cultural Heritage award at the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA) ACT Awards, which celebrate excellence in landscape design across the state. The project now proceeds to national judging for this category to be announced later this year.
Design is a collaborative process. Our design from Ngamawari in Canberra is being brought to life by engaging and consulting with the community, and working closely First Nations artists.
Work has officially begun on Ngamawari which is located on the Acton Waterfront. The lake will enhance the character of the landscape surrounding Lake Burley Griffin and provide opportunities to learn about Ngunnawal history and culture.
City Renewal Authority’s Acting Deputy Chief Executive Officer Jennifer Ramsay said in a recent update that Ngamawari “will provide a special experience to all who explore the planned adventure playground, extensive native gardens, pavilions, and event spaces over the coming decades.”
