The New Academic Building will be Western Australia’s largest mass timber construction, and biggest across all Australian university campuses.
It’s the first major project of this scale to be undertaken by the university in the last twenty years and represents an exciting opportunity to reinforce the value of landscape as a key structuring element for the campus that contributes to its unique identity.
Our landscape concept builds upon the principals and vision of the original master plan, with an emphasis on creating a uniquely West Australian "Bush Campus" setting and a series of smaller courtyards that carefully integrate into the existing built form and context.
The new building, landscape and activation that it will bring, sets the stage for a cultural and spatial transformation of Murdoch campus.
