This Award is a particularly significant achievement, named for the famous architect who created the design for Canberra, one of the great planned cities in the 20th century.
Quay Quarter, a project undertaken in partnership with SJB, Silvester Fuller, Studio Bright, Carter Williamson Architects, and Lippmann Partnership, “is a gift to the city of Sydney,” according to the jury at last nights awards. “This project demonstrates the power of skilful architects and landscape architects working together with respect and mutual understanding for the value of urban space.”
We were also thrilled to see that Newcastle East End, a collaboration between ASPECT Studios, SJB, Durbach Block Jaggers, and Tonkin Zulaikha Greer Architects received a National Commendation for Urban Design! The jury said, “[this] project is an exemplar of regional urban revitalisation that challenges familiar typologies to create diversity of built form and experience.”
Our Sydney Studio Director Sacha Coles was at the awards night last night, hosted at Taronga Zoo in Sydney. “Urban design is a collective pursuit,” said Sacha at the ceremony. “Complexity did not hold us back, and it was a collaborative effort from all the architects and designers, with an amazing client who really pushed us.” These awards celebrate design excellence across Australia, and the recognition of these awards speaks volumes about the quality of the work and the dedication of those involved in the projects to bring these visions to life.
We want to offer a heartfelt congratulations to our project collaborators and clients for these amazing wins and offer our thanks to our wonderful team. Congratulations also to the other award winners on the night, we’re honoured to have been celebrated alongside you for some truly incredible projects.
