Aspect Studios together with our collaborators T&Z Architects is delighted to have received a commendation in the national REIMAGINING WHERE WE LIVE aged care competition held by the Department of Health and Aged Care. The competition asked participants to explore new models for aged care based on the recently released National Aged Care Design Principles and Guidelines which promote the design of high quality, safe, respectful and dignified care.
Our proposal explores a model for aged care that breaks down the traditional boundaries of aged care facilities by weaving public, semi-public, and private spaces together with landscape and community program to dissolve the conventional boundaries of aged care facilities. The design invites the wider community to step in and be an integral part of the residents' lives and create positive and supportive community interactions. By fostering connections across generations and diverse groups, the model aims to enhance the quality of life for residents, promote social engagement, and build a vibrant, inclusive local community.
Congratulations to our collaborators, T&Z Architects, and everyone who participated in the competition.
