Core to the design intent was creating a high street on Locomotive Street, activated on the southern side by foyer entries with a range of hospitality businesses that take advantage of the scale of the former Locomotive row sheds. This distinctive approach has created a popular recreation space that encourages residents, visitors, and families to bring renewed energy to the working development.
Early master planning clearly identified a core strategic objective to transform the isolated business park into a key part of the city’s network of open spaces and streets, and in turn, reconnect local communities.
It was vital to Mirvac that we pay careful consideration to the site’s Indigenous heritage and significance. ASPECT’s approach focused on co-creating an experience that will engage and connect the public to Aboriginal culture and traditions while educating them on the history of the site and fostering an inclusive community for its users.
