These spaces feature a blend of paved open spaces to accommodate event overlays and queueing patrons; raised grassed berms and seating edges for rest and relaxation between events; and gardens with canopy tree planting to continue the precinct’s parkland character. The expansive podium and berm areas hide considerable technical complexity and operational logistics for the precinct whilst seamlessly integrating this new landscape into previous stages of work.
Serving as the connective fabric within Melbourne’s sports precinct, and as backdrop for various international audiences, these new public spaces within Melbourne Park will ensure the usability, comfort, safety and visual backdrop for audiences both local and from around the world.
