Collins Place

ASPECT Studios has reinvigorated the public forecourt at the I.M. Pei-designed Collins Place complex in Melbourne. The new space is a more welcoming, open, and flexible landmark for a destination precinct.

The design ensures that the qualities of forecourt are enhanced, and the well-loved character of the space remains intact.

ASPECT’s approach was built on respecting and amplifying the architectural design, while engaging deeply with the forecourt’s relationship to the surrounding public realm and streetscape environment.

The project is defined by a fastidious attention to detail, from curved seating elements that integrate into stairways, to paving modules that are carefully aligned to form a strong textural pattern.

These details work together to contribute to the timeless, robust feeling of the space. The improved forecourt now extends an invitation to all, helping to revitalise this important commercial and cultural space.
