A brand new boardwalk will connect Grand Central Avenue to River Parade, and trail upgrades will bind the existing Coastal Walkway to the south of the Field River. This means locals and visitors can enjoy the entirety of this unique coastal track including the world famous geological formations at Hallett Cove, important sites of remnant coastal vegetation and the significant cultural presence of the Tjilbruke Dreaming.
The new boardwalk provides a crucial missing link in achieving the South Australian Government’s initiative to establish a continuous 70-kilometre coastal linear park from Sellicks Beach to North Haven with a focus on maintaining a balance between recreational use and conservational values.
These additions to the site complement the existing environment and enhance the biodiversity of the area through revegetation of dunes, protection of the Hooded Plover, and simultaneously ensures convenient access for the community and visitors alike to admire the beautiful coastline.
