Our Brisbane team marked NAIDOC Week with a visit to the Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens, to share stories and experiences of Country centred design, and to formulate strategies for connecting with and designing for Country on future projects.
Shannon Minniss, Landscape Designer, said she felt inspired by the conversation and the relationships developing between the studio and Traditional Owners.
“It is evident that we as a profession share a lot of core values with Traditional Owners and it is a privilege to learn from First Nations people,” she said.
“We concluded our discussions with agreement that we as a team are committed to influencing positive change in design and construction processes, to make meaningful space for Traditional Owners to positively impact projects and to ensure our design process is intertwined with a deep understanding of Country and its processes."
