Allianz Stadium
Allianz Stadium contributes to and complements the rich fabric of public spaces found in the Moore Park and Paddington precincts. It is embedded into its surrounding context, stitching together neighbourhood precincts to ground the stadium in place – physically, culturally, and historically.

The stadium has a seating capacity of 42,500 seats and hosts international and national sporting and entertainment events. It also acts as the home ground for three sporting teams playing in national competitions.
ASPECT Studios worked across the concept proposal, detailed design, and construction stages of the project, producing a public domain and landscape design using a rigorous, thorough, and iterative design and testing process.
This resulted in the creation of three key gathering places linked by a public concourse - Damun Place, Sheridan Stairs, and Busby’s Corner. These places have a distinct identity and act as valuable public places even on days when the stadium lies unused.

The design explores the changing usage of the site over time. In the journey from a British penal colony to the global city that Sydney is today, the site has witnessed many transformations and hosted many different people and organisations.
This story is picked out in the paving scheme, which maps out the excavations undertaken on the site by forced convict labour, and in the integrated signage that is strategically located to reveal and highlight points of historical interest.

The public domain acts as an extension of adjacent streets, pathways, and parks. It is relatable and human in scale, comfortable to inhabit, and attracts people regardless of whether the stadium is in use.
