Rising sharply on the west bank of the Fen River, the dual towers of the COHL Taiyuan International Center are a new landmark for Taiyuan.
Given the scale of the towers, it was important for the project’s landscape design to firmly knit the project into the existing urban fabric. ASPECT Studios’ response was to take inspiration from the river, combining triangular paved areas to create a “river on the ground” that echoes the gentle bends of the Fen.

The landscape design also achieves a number of commercial ambitions for the project, with a clean and contemporary design language that announces the precinct as a high-end retail destination. A combination of open plazas and small comfortable spaces creates a place that matches the scale and grandeur of the buildings, but also meets a number of different people’s needs.
