The Pentridge site comprises an intricate arrangement of 18 new and 6 heritage-listed buildings. ASPECT Studios was engaged to integrate wayfinding and signage devices into the development in a contemporary way that did not imperil the heritage fabric.
Interpretive details were also incorporated to create a distinctive identity and relationship to the public spaces and heritage character of the site.

ASPECT’s strategy incorporated a new branding identity in the wayfinding and business identification signage that is present throughout the site. This wayfinding system provides information about how particular locations can be used and the location of amenities and services in an orderly way, while also articulating the presence of heritage buildings.
The signage also works to accomplish a key objective of the whole – to link the site to its surrounds – and in doing so open up an institution that was closed for such a long time.
