The high-quality public realm delivered has created a distinctive new arts and leisure space for local, interstate, and overseas visitors to enjoy as well as a vibrant new connection between the CBD and Riverbank. Its welcoming physical environment, accentuated by a series of shady arbours, refurbished artworks from the original Hajek Plaza, and misting water feature makes it an enticing place for all ages to come together, refresh, unwind, and engage in an ongoing program of art, music, theatre, and family fun.
Kensington Wama / Kensington Garden Reserve won an Award of Excellence for Parks and Open Space, the inaugural Water For Life Award, and the Healthy Parks Healthy People SA Award. Located in Adelaide’s east, Kensington Wama / Kensington Gardens Reserve has been transformed into a thriving, green open space for community recreation and ecological and cultural restoration. The project encourages visitors to be active, connect with nature, celebrate community and cultural heritage – all ingredients for community health and wellbeing.
