Over the weekend in Kalgoorlie, we celebrated the long-awaited opening of the Kal City Centre.
The community's excitement and delight at the opening – which coincided with the St Barbara Festival and Parade – was a moving validation of the project's goal of reinvigorating the town center.
The project embodies the narratives that give Kalgoorie its unique identity, with fifteen artworks by Indigenous artists illustrating the depth of its past. The central canopy provides a place for shade and respite, while the new, sculptural playground makes the space a destination for families.
We'd like to thank our fellow contributors who played a role in bringing this project to life. Iredale Pedersen Hook, ETC Solutions, TABEC Civil Engineering Consultants, CADSultIDS, Terpkos Engineering, H+H Architects, City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, Ertech, Lark Industries, Lappset Group Oy, Lightning Brick, Vision Design Metal Fabrication, Element.
Here's to a future where the Kal City Centre continues to grow as a lively hub for life in Kalgoorlie.
