The National Gallery of Australia’s (NGA) Sculpture Garden competition, held earlier this year, aimed to transform the Sculpture Garden into an innovative outdoor art gallery that celebrates the Australian landscape, it’s capital and the National Gallery’s purpose to make art accessible and meaningful to diverse audiences locally and around the world.
ASPECT Studios' entry from the Melbourne studio draws on surrounding architecture and Canberra’s masterplan, driven by landscape materiality and its interaction with natural elements like sun, wind, and water. The design fosters a connection with Ngunnawal Country, creating a 360-degree experience where art and nature unite, advancing the landscape design movement toward a deeper, authentic Australian relationship with nature.
Thank you to our collaborators; BKK Architects, Winsor Kerr, Dr Jillian Walliss, Max Delany and Matthew Fellingham.
