The Ring and The Roof awarded Gold at CRED Awards 2022

The Ring, nestled in Chonqing’s urban heart, is a journey of fantasy and natural wonder at the centre of a community-oriented retail destination. It reimagines the traditional retail environment, shifting the emphasis from commercial exchange to social exchange and connection to nature through the provision of much-needed accessible public open space.

The Roof was inspired by Shanghai’s lilong, the traditional backstreets and historic laneways that reveal smaller, quieter worlds that are just as quintessentially Shanghai as any cluster of glowing skyscrapers. The essence of lilong has been stitched into the project at every opportunity, resulting in a large-scale complex that provides a protective environment that feels more in touch with nature.
