Felixstow Reserve Wayfinding and Interpretation

Felixstow Reserve is located on the River Torrens/Karrawirra Pari and showcases some of the rich cultural history of the Kaurna people - the traditional owners of the Adelaide Plains on which the project site is located.
ASPECT Studios led a team to undertake the detailed design, documentation, and construction phase services of the reserve and the wayfinding and interpretive elements. Exploration into the site’s natural context, relationship with the River Torrens, Kaurna history and artefacts, and Post-European heritage, led to the development of key themes and a consistent design narrative.

An existing scar tree was retained and now acts as a major interpretive element that links other cultural markers throughout the site. The scar tree also became the inspiration for the large wayfinding plinths at key entrances.
In Felixstow Reserve, ASPECT Studios and its collaborators have created a space for all to enjoy, while at the same providing an important opportunity for connection and reconciliation.
